The Miracle of Democracy - Timor Leste style

Comrades,

The wonderful folk of East Timor go to the polls today to elect a new President.
Can't tell you how pleasing it is for me - a long-time observer of the country - that the Revolutionary Front of Independent East Timor (FRETILIN) is back in the frame after all these years to democratically take power, hopefully on the first ballot, on an eight candidate ballot paper.

All power to yr oars, LĂș-Olo!

Indonesia can burn in hell, and shove your oil and gas fields right up Australia's arse, and make them pay.
They are yours in fact and in law.
Having visited Dili as a tourist back in 2012, had a rather surreal edgy experience dining in the same Portuguese restaurant as former PM and current Secretary-General of FRETILIN, Mari Alkatiri.
A bloke not to be messed with under any circumstances.
Talks the talk and walks the walk.
Seems like he's been sidelined nowadays down in Oecussi to look after the enclave, but if you want someone who knows all about that invidious Timor Gap Treaty and can use his mighty death stare to tremendous effect at the negotiating table, Alkatiri is your man.
And he knows just the right time to say "OK, my AK47 does the talking from now on".
